Event Description:

Sunday, July 13, 2014 is the second annual Deerfield Triathlon. 15 miles from Hill City, SD, Deerfield Lake is nestled in the central part of the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota.

The course features a 1600m swim, 40k bike and an 10k run. The swim is an out and back course in a protective cove. Spectator may hike down the trail to cheer on their swimmer. The bike ride climbs out of Gold Run Trail head along Deerfield Road back toward Hill City. The course is hilly and speeds can get high coming back to transition. After descending back to Gold Run Trai Head, the racers transition to an out and back run by going back out to Deerfield Road for a short distance before turning onto right onto Gillette Paire Rd. This is a well maitained gravel road where you will run most of the 10k on. The Sprint Course followes the same routing but the distances are cut in half.

Mt. Meadow Store and Campground has cabins and camps sites available race weekend. Hill City also has many great hotels and restaurants and is near gambling in historic Deadwood, the great carvings of Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse, the 114-mile Mickelson trail and countless miles of single-track.
